So I'm working on this MS that has various people sitting around a pool. They're sitting on pieces of furniture the author insists on calling CHAISE LOUNGES. Whoever had first crack at the corrections marked up all references to said furniture, changing them to read (correctly, imho) CHAISE LONGUES. But then the production editor went through and stetted all instances. Agh! Ow!! :::bang head::: I went to look it up in Webster's 11th, hoping to scrawl a big "Not stetting because it's wrong," but....both versions are in there.
I have a whole rant stored up on how misspellings and other errors eventually sneak their way into Proper Usage, but I have to finish this thing before I throw it through a window.
