Ah, that IS good news. I figured I'd jinxed it by voting for Montreal, because usually the bids I vote for lose. I really wanted to go to Kansas City for a few years there.
I have to write my friend Mark who studies opera in Montreal and tell him I'm coming.
I actually didn't have a horse in this race, because either city had major pluses for me. So yay! but *sadness* for the lack of KC-style lamb bbq.
I don't think I'll be driving, though. I had thought about taking the train, then I remembered your horror stories of trying to get across the border via Amtrak...
