Hmm. It was hard to leave the cemetery, but ...it was a beautiful little hill. We were there on one of the nicest days we've had this year, and we were surrounded by hints that spring was coming. So while it was hard to leave, at the same time, I choose to remember what an interesting, lovely place Green-Wood is.
Did you happen to notice, at the main gate, that we were being serenaded by a colony of monk parakeets? I consulted with a birder friend and he says that that cemetery is the first and oldest northern colony of these birds. On a dark day, a splash of bright feathers and a mirthful noise.
